Tuesday's Tips - Break the Business Meeting Routine

        

Business meetings are essential to success but freshening up the format to inspire creativity may be what's needed now.

Here are some tips to do just that from a true original, Virgin founder Richard Branson.

Step away from the usual weekly agenda and set an inspiring theme.

Generate discussion to find innovative, entrepreneurial solutions to the  toughest challenges by moving away from a routine agenda.

Bring together a diverse mix of people to broaden discussion.

Convening what might seem an unlikely bunch can really get the ideas flowing. Assembling an eclectic group will lead to great discussions.

Ban slide presentations!

Short videos and photos bring a talk to life, but watching a speaker read from a PowerPoint presentation will put most people to sleep.
 

Lose the laptops and say bye to the tie.

A change of scenery and a bit of fun does wonders for getting people thinking differently and loosening up! Wherever you are, be innovative with your space. Try a stand-up meeting, or leave the desks and head outdoors. Get out of your everyday environment.

Workers Comp Exemptions

We have recently learned that the Division of Workers' Compensation is no longer mailing out exemption certificates.  Instead, the Division is requiring exemption holders to print out their exemption certificate (which the state calls a “Certificate of Election to be Exempt”) from the Division’s website.

Exemption holders can go to www.myfloridacfo.com/wc and click on the tab that says “Employer."  From there, they should click on the box on the right-hand part of the screen that says “Apply for an Exemption.”  They will then have to enter their Florida driver’s license number or their Florida ID number, as well as their last name to find their exemption and print their certificate.
